Top 10 Prefered Stocks To Invest In 2014

Can a stock that has already more than tripled this year double from here? If it’s Intercept Pharmaceutcials (ICPT), then the answer could be yes, says Wedbush analyst Liana Moussatos.

Last night, Intercept reported that the FDA had granted fast-track status to its obeticholic acid, or OCA, for treating primary biliary cirrhosis, or PBC, in which the bile ducts in the liver are destroyed. Moussatos discusses the implications for Intercept Pharmaceuticals:

The FDA designates Fast-Track status to a therapy that treats a condition that has no current therapy or to a therapy that shows some advantage over available therapy, such as superior effectiveness or the ability to address an emerging or anticipated public health need. The company and we believe the designation signals that the FDA recognizes that OCA has the potential to address a significant unmet need. Currently, the only approved treatment for PBC is ursodiol, and about half of PBC patients who are unable to tolerate or have an inadequate response have no other treatment options except for liver transplant. With Fast-Track designation, Intercept is eligible for more frequent meetings and written communications with the FDA. Additionally, there is the potential for a faster review process (6 months vs. 10 months) for OCA.

Paul Sakuma/APOracle President Mark Hurd Mark Hurd, one of the rumored leading contenders to replace Steve Ballmer as chief executive of Microsoft, told CNBC that he is "not planning" to move from his current job as president at technology company Oracle. Hurd is one of several technology executives whose name has been linked with one of the biggest jobs in the industry, since it emerged that Steve Ballmer is stepping down from Microsoft (MSFT). Other high-profile names connected to the job include Alan Mulally, chief executive of Ford Motor (F), and Stephen Elop, the former Nokia (NOK) CEO who has rejoined Microsoft to head up its mobile devices division. Hurd told CNBC he is "very happy" at Oracle (ORCL) -- but did not deny that he had been contacted by Microsoft. Asked how he would fix the challenges facing the computer giant, he said: "Microsoft needs to work on their own business." Hurd was previously chief executive of Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) where he was credited with helping turn around the company's fortunes through an aggressive cost-cutting program. He stepped down in 2010 the wake of sexual harassment allegations but was eventually cleared of all charges. Larry Ellison, the Oracle chief executive, gave Hurd his job at Oracle within a month of his departure from HP. He also publicly compared Hurd's firing to Apple's (AAPL) board firing Steve Jobs in 1985. The board of HP said that Hurd had not violated company policy on sexual harassment, but he had broken its policy on business standards by submitting inaccurate expense claims. Oracle has just announced a deal with U.K. telecom giant BT Group (BT), which will use its human resources "cloud" technology for its near-90,000 employees around the world. You don't have to be an expert technical analyst to figure out what's going on in shares of UK-based BT Group (BT). This chart has been moving up and to the right all year long, bouncing its way higher in a tight-range. So even though shares of BT have already made their way 38% higher since the start of the year, this stock is well positioned to keep its trajectory going.

BT has had the same trendline support level in place since all the way back in November, a level that held when the S&P broke its own similarly-positioned uptrend. That's a considerable sign of strength. Now the ideal time to be a buyer in BT comes on a bounce off of that support level.

Buying off a support bounce makes sense for two big reasons: it's the spot where shares have the furthest to move up before they hit resistance, and it's the spot where the risk is the least (because shares have the least room to move lower before you know you're wrong). While BT could stand to pull back some before it makes sense to jump in, the strength of this channel makes it worth watching now.

If you decide to jump in, I'd recommend keeping a protective stop in place at the 50-day moving average.

Carbon fibers are woven into carbon fabrics, used as reinforcement in conjunction with a resin matrix to produce pre-impregnated composite materials. Carbon fibers is also used in filament winding, hand layup, automatic tape layup and advanced fiber placement to produce finished composite components. Its carbon fibersproduct applications include structural components for commercial and military aircraft, space launch vehicles, and certain other applications, such as recreational and industrial equipment.

Industrial fabrics and specialty reinforcements are ma! de from a variety of fibers, including carbon, aramid and other polymers, several types of fiberglass, quartz, ceramic and other specialty fibers. These reinforcements are used in the production of prepregs and other matrix materials used in primary and secondary structural aerospace applications, such as wing components, horizontal and vertical stabilizer components, fairings, radomes and engine nacelles, as well as overhead storage bins and other interior components. Hexcel reinforcements are also used in the manufacture of a variety of industrial and recreational products, such as wind energy blades, automotive components, boats, surfboards, skis and other sporting goods equipment.

HexPly prepregs are manufactured for sale to third-party customers and for internal use by its engineered products segment in manufacturing composite laminates and monolithic structures, including finished components for aircraft structures and interiors. HexFIT film infusion material is a product that combines resin films and dry fiber reinforcements in production and enables the manufacture of contoured composite structures, such as wind turbine blades.

Polymer matrix materials are sold in bulk and film form for use in direct pro! cess manu! facturing of composite parts. Resins can be combined with fiber reinforcements in manufacturing processes, such as resin transfer molding (RTM), resin film infusion (RFI) or vacuum assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM) to produce composite components for both aerospace and industrial applications. Hexcel manufactures and markets a range of Redux film and paste adhesives. These structural adhesives, which bond metal to metal and composites and honeycomb structures, are used in the aerospace industry and for many industrial applications.

HexWeb honeycomb is a cellular structure consisting of nested hexagonal cells. The product is similar in appearance to a cross-sectional slice of a beehive. It can also be manufactured in asymmetric cell configurations for more specialized applications. Honeycomb is primarily used as a lightweight core material and acts as an energy absorber. I'll warn you now at least some of you aren't going to like what you're about to hear. But, I wouldn't be doing any one a service by ignoring an important reality. So, here goes - shares of Golar LNG Limited (NASDAQ:GLNG) and its mater/parent Golar LNG Partners LP (NASDAQ:GMLP) are ripe for a sizeable pullback. Anybody who was mulling a new position in GMLP or GLNG here may want to hold off just a bit, and anybody who stepped into either or both within the past month or so may want to go ahead and lock in their nice gain while they can.
