Top Up And Coming Stocks To Watch Right Now

There are many countries across the globe that utilize natural gas as transportation fuel. Argentina and Iran are among the world leaders. It is a trend that hasn't really picked up in the U.S. -- until now.

Natural gas is too cheap and too useful to ignore, and it is making inroads in the world of long-distance trucking. In this video, Fool.com contributor Aimee Duffy talks about the efforts of UPS (NYSE: UPS  ) and Wal-Mart (NYSE: WMT  ) to take advantage of this growing movement.

The movement toward alternative energy is gaining momentum. One potential opportunity in this field is Clean Energy Fuels, which focuses its natural gas efforts primarily on trucking and fleets. It's poised to make a big impact on an essential industry. Learn everything you need to know about Clean Energy Fuels in The Motley Fool's premium research report on the company. Advisors' Opinion:

Golar LNG (NASDAQ: GLNG  ) is also a gusher. The liquefied natural gas transporter is increasing its quarterly rate by 6% to $0.45 a share.

  • [By Varun Chandan, Arora]

The sharp decline in freight rates is mainly due to fleet growth and limited cargoes, according to Teekay. The company noted in a recent presentation that ongoing production outages are limiting spot cargoes in the market, and at the same time, the LNG fleet is set to grow by more than 30 ships in 2014. Nearly half of these ships are uncommitted to long-term projects. Back in February Golar LNG Limited (NASDAQ: GLNG  ) described the LNG tanker market as very challenging due to these reasons.

  • [By Oil and Gas Investments Bulletin]

In this article I want to talk about permitting - but before that, remember that the first LNG proposal that will export BC and Alberta gas, the Douglas Channel project with Golar (GLNG), is so small at 0.2 bcf/d that it doesn't need all this permitting.

  • [By Robert Rapier]

The third and most speculative category of MLP that should benefit from expanding US natural gas production is engaged in building and operating LNG export terminals, or in the operation of ships that carry LNG. As US LNG exports ramp up in the years ahead, partnerships that own fleets of special LNG carriers, likeGasLog Partners(NYSE: GLOP),Teekay LNG Partners(NYSE: TGP) andGolar LNG(Nasdaq: GLNG) should flourish.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Sean Williams]

The first big risk for American Water Works and the water utility sector as a whole is the need for infrastructure and maintenance upgrades. The downside of expanding into new territories and picking up new customers is that pipe, sewer, and storage tank maintenance is needed just to keep operations running. American Water Works' primary rival, Aqua America (NYSE: WTR  ) , spent $1.4 billion in maintenance and upgrades alone between 2007 and 2011. American Water Works, by contrast, will spend $950 million just in 2013 for maintenance and upgrades. These costs are already painful to begin with, but when capex costs are unexpected it can negatively impact a water utility's bottom line.

  • [By Justin Loiseau]

Aqua America (NYSE: WTR  ) Chairman, President, and CEO Nicholas DeBenedictis just sold around $3 million of his shares, according to a company statement released today.

  • [By David Dittman]

Answer: We do have three in the UF Portfolio, including American Water Works, Connecticut Water Service and Aqua America Inc (NYSE: WTR), with the basic rationale rooted in geographic diversification.

  • [By Aaron Levitt]

As we continue to use more water, prices for the critical commodity will rise – even if those prices are capped by regulators. That will be a big win for the various water utilities in our nations. And when it comes to water utilities,Aqua America (WTR) is the clear winner.
